Compared to cars, SUVs have higher fuel consumption, which invisibly increases the difficulty of reducing uniform fuel consumption. Although SUVs are the lifeline for many car companies, facing high standards in 2020, the lifeline is also temporary. Adjusting the product structure is now urgent and should be carried out towards miniaturization, lightweighting, and functionalization.
In addition to improving the skill level of vehicles, various car companies are planning to use new power products to reduce uniform fuel consumption. Whether willing or not, car companies are walking on an increasingly environmentally friendly path. But now, there is still no clear direction for the development of new power. In this situation, the development path should not be constrained, and the emphasis should not be too much on purpose. Instead, suitable current approaches should be encouraged, such as hybrid power including plug-in hybrid.
It cannot be denied that the uniform fuel consumption standard in 2020 has put a lot of pressure on various car companies, and some blind responses may be difficult to prevent. Most car companies are now investing in pure electric vehicle projects, and from the perspective of pure electric products today, the homogenization of skills is significant. It is also urgent to prevent overcapacity in homogeneous products, otherwise it will become jumping from one pit to another. Reasonable and orderly should be the guiding principle.
Reducing uniform fuel consumption is a requirement of the environment and a manifestation of skill improvement, but the process is equally important. Although it is currently impossible to estimate how many car companies will meet the final standards by 2020, the direction of development will not deviate without a set policy.
